Michael E. Maier, age 81, passed away peacefully after living with progressive dementia for eight years. He was a history and geology enthusiast, and an avid reader and gardener. Michael was a Captain in the Army serving one year in Vietnam during the war. He is survived by his wife Mary Chaney, daughters Monica Fiscus and Kathryn Maier, and brother John Maier. Services Friday, Dec. 6, 1:30 pm, at First Congregational Church, 2401 Cornwall, Bellingham.
