The City of Bellingham is seeking feedback on the design of playgrounds at Bloedel Donovan Park and Rock Hill Park.
Both playgrounds were installed in 1999, and the city is now upgrading both playgrounds to make them safer and more accessible. Bloedel Donovan Park is located in the Silver Beach neighborhood at 2214 Electric Ave., while Rock Hill Park is located in the York neighborhood at the end of Iron Street.
Feedback will be accepted on Engage Bellingham through Monday, Nov. 25.
The city is presenting three options for the redesign of the Bloedel Donovan Park playground, and two options for the Rock Hill Park playground. At both parks, the city plans to demolish the existing playground equipment and replace them with a new playground. At Rock Hill, the city will also add accessible parking, an accessible walkway connection to the playground and seating options including picnic tables or park benches.
Parks staff will attend the Silver Beach Neighborhood Association meeting on Feb. 11, 2025 and the York Neighborhood Association meeting on Feb. 26, 2025 to gather comments in person as staff work through the design phase of the projects.
Construction for both playgrounds will take place in June and July 2026.
