Jesse Stanton's weekly picks and other live shows in Whatcom and Skagit counties

JESSE’S PICKS

Elaine Eagle
7–9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 26, The Admiralty Lounge, 100 N. Commercial St.

Elaine Eagle is a singer and pianist from Wenatchee who writes original music that blends folk, pop, and a little bit of classical. Her elegant, beautiful songs should be a perfect fit for the Admiralty Lounge, where she’s performing on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

The Walrus
7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, The Blue Room, 202 E. Holly St., Unit 301, and 8–11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, Conway Muse, 18444 Spruce St., Conway

The Walrus are a classic rock institution around here. They started out just as a Beatles tribute band and every once in a while they like to get back to their roots. On Friday, Nov. 29 they’ve got a show at The Blue Room that they’re billing as a classic rock dance party, with one set devoted to the Fab Four. They’re also playing the Conway Muse on Saturday, Nov. 30. The cross-generational appeal of this music means that either one would be a perfect way to get the family out of the house after Thanksgiving.

Ensemble Sangineto
7:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 29, Lincoln Theatre, 712 S. 1st St., Mount Vernon

Ensemble Sangineto are a trio coming all the way from Italy, who perform a mixture of traditional folk and ancient music styles from all over Europe, from Italian to Celtic to classical. Caterina Sanginento sings in a crystal clear voice and adds melodies on the bowed psaltery, her twin brother Adriano plays the harp, and Jacobo Ventura adds guitar and bouzouki. It’s all very beautiful and should appeal to lovers of many different kinds of music.  They’re at the Lincoln Theatre on Friday, Nov. 29.

Kuinka
9 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, Wild Buffalo, 208 W. Holly St.

Kuinka’s brand of high-energy folk-pop has taken them from their Skagit County origins to stages (and Tiny Desks) all over the world. They’ve expanded their lineup to include bass and drums, as showcased on their most recent album, 2021’s Shiny Little Corners, but there’s still plenty of fast strumming on guitars and ukuleles, and layers of jubilant harmonies. They’re at the Wild Buffalo on Saturday, Nov. 30 and I think you’re going to want advance tickets for this one.
