CDN Game of the Week: Archbishop Murphy vs. Lynden at Ferndale High School
When: 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 23
Archbishop Murphy record: 9-1
Lynden record: 10-1
Final prediction: Lynden 21-14
Lynden defeated Archbishop Murphy 7-3 earlier this season to force a three-way tie for the conference title and a higher seed in the state playoffs. The two teams relied on their running backs since they played in heavy rainfall and winds.
If the weather is clear, the Lions will try to utilize a more balanced attack while the Wildcats are going to try to control the clock and limit Lynden’s possessions.
Archbishop Murphy player to watch: WR Jack Sievers, senior
The Wildcats are known for running the ball and limiting the amount of possessions for their opponents. However, Archbishop Murphy’s Jack Sievers had played an important role for the Wildcats.
He is the team’s top receiver and made a contested catch against Anacortes to lead the Wildcats to a victory against the Seahawks earlier this season.
Lynden player to watch: WR/DB Sam Arango, sophomore
In the first matchup, Lynden relied on quarterback Brant Heppner to create offense through the air and on the ground. The Wildcats will try to limit Heppner and tight end Isaiah Oudman. Arango is a solid player who can step up and play a pivotal role against the Wildcats.
