Storm system expected to move through Whatcom County this week

Winds to reach 50–55 mph in Bellingham Tuesday night, Wednesday morning

Heavy winds and rain are expected to impact Whatcom County this week, starting Tuesday night, Nov. 12.

The National Weather Service anticipates a storm system to move into Whatcom County throughout the week, including strong wind gusts beginning late Tuesday night, according to a Tuesday news release.

Wind gusts are expected to reach 50–55 mph around Bellingham Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Gusts in Lynden will reach 35–40 mph. Temperatures will be highs in the mid-50s and lows in the mid-40s for the rest of the week.

Whatcom County residents can expect steady rainfall Tuesday through Thursday, around an inch in total, which could lead to minor flooding of low-lying roads. After cool and wet conditions throughout the week, another storm system may be on track for this weekend, as well, according to the NWS.
