PeaceHealth’s Lynden Clinic is now the first PeaceHealth facility to become LEED-certified after earning a LEED Silver Certification for its green sustainability features.
LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the world’s most widely used green building rating system and promotes strategies that reduce environmental impact, enhance human health and support economic development.
The award, given by the U.S. Green Building Council, was announced in a PeaceHealth news release Friday, Dec. 27.
The 22,500-square-foot, single-story Lynden Clinic, located at 8844 Benson Road, opened for patient care in April 2024. The building meets high standards for air quality, energy efficiency and for using locally sourced materials.
“This is a testament to our vision and commitment to creating a healthier, more sustainable environment for our patients, staff and community,” Denise Walker, vice president of PeaceHealth Medical Group Operations in the Northwest network, said in the release. “It reflects our dedication to reducing our environmental footprint while also providing exceptional patient care.”
Buildings earn certification points with water efficiency, sustainability, materials and resources, location and transportation, energy and atmosphere, indoor environmental quality, innovation and more. Based on the number of points achieved, a project then earns one of four LEED rating levels: Certified, Silver, Gold or Platinum.
The Lynden Clinic features rooftop solar panels, on-site EV charging, a stormwater runoff system, landscaping with native and drought-resistant plants, water-efficient irrigation and others.
