Bellingham boys swim kicks off season with a win

Bayhawks were led by seniors Parker Kiniry and Micah Flint

The Bellingham boys swim team dipped into the pool for the first time in the 2024–25 season and flew past Sedro-Woolley 107-52 Tuesday, Dec. 3 at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center.

In the 200-yard medley relay, Bellingham’s Micah Flint, Parker Kiniry, Marley Lotts and Sloan Jorgensen won in 2:01.55, and Sedro-Woolley’s Dylan Burkhalter, Trey Gardner, Rylan Murphy and Owen Beilfuss finished second in 2:21.00.

Bellingham’s Cody Watts won the 200-yard freestyle in 2:29.62, Ewan Kelley finished second in 2:33.03 and Burkhalter was third in 2:50.12.

In the 200-yard individual medley, Murphy won in 2:22.90, Kiniry finished second in 2:27.97 and Lotts was third in 2:28.02.

Bellingham swept the 50-yard freestyle’s top three places. Bayhawks’ Jorgensen won in 26.48, Ali Ochs finished second in 29.48 and Nicholas Rayon came in third in 34.50.

Bellingham’s Myles Ludwig won the 1-meter diving event with a score of 131.35 points. Marley Lotts was the lone competitor in the 100-yard butterfly, notching the win in 1:14.62.

Flint won the 100-yard freestyle in 59.50; Bellingham’s Cameron Pomerinke finished second in 1:01.85 and Torin Frazier placed third in 1:14.41.

Murphy won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:37.23, Kelley finished second in 7:17.89 and Cody Watts was third in 7:22.43.


In the 200-yard freestyle relay, Pomerinke, Kiniry, Ochs and Jorgensen won in 1:48.67; Frazier, Ludwig, Cody Watts and Kelley placed second in 2:11.42; and Sedro-Woolley’s Alex Brown, Nolan Dusek, Odin Schultz and Ethan Burge came in third in 2:57.92.

Flint won the 100-yard backstroke in 1:15.00, Burkhalter finished second in 1:19.37 and Sedro-Woolley’s Justin Roberts finished third in 1:45.15.

Kiniry won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:14.36; Gardner finished second in 1:21.86 and Frazier finished third in 1:38.23.

Jorgensen, Marley Lotts, Flint and Pomerinke finished the meet by winning the 400-yard freestyle relay in 4:11.87. Burkhalter, Burge, Gardner and Murphy finished second in 4:44.94, and Cody Watts, Ochs, Kelley and Frazier finished third in 4:57.87.
