CDN Game of the Week: Anacortes vs. Tumwater at Husky Stadium
When: 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7
Anacortes record: 12-1
Tumwater record: 13-0
Final prediction: Tumwater 35-28
When Anacortes won its first state football title in school history last year, the Seahawks stunned Tumwater 60-30 and finished with a perfect season. Tumwater, which runs a similar offense to Archbishop Murphy, has run the ball successfully this season, scoring 699 points. The T-Birds have only allowed 76 points, including seven in the postseason.
Tumwater has one weakness in its system, battling a fast-paced offense. The Seahawks’ skilled players proved to be the difference last season and will keep this game close. However, Tumwater is eager to avenge last season’s loss and has easily defeated every team in its path so far.
Anacortes player to watch: DL/FB Elias “Eazy” Quintino, senior
In the most talented conference in the state, Anacortes’ Quintino led the Seahawks with 51 tackles, 18 tackles for loss and eight sacks in the regular season. He was named the All-Northwest Conference Defensive Player of the Year and piled up a handful of tackles for losses against WF West last week. He will be a key contributor to stopping Tumwater’s rushing attack.
Tumwater player to watch: RB/LB Cash Short, senior
Short is a 5-foot-11, 200-pound player for Tumwater. He finished the season as a first-team All-League linebacker after leading the team in tackles in numerous games. Short scored three rushing touchdowns against Archbishop Murphy last week.
