Man dies Wednesday night at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center

Pool closed Thursday, April 6; reopening April 7

A man died at Arne Hanna Aquatic Center Wednesday night, April 5, according to police. 

The center will be closed Thursday, April 6, and will reopen for regular hours April 7. 

Bellingham police officers and fire department medics were told a person was behind a bathroom door for several hours and needed medical attention, Bellingham Police Lt. Claudia Murphy said in an email. 

When officers and medics arrived, the door was open and an unresponsive man was inside. They were unable to resuscitate the man, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. No cause of death or further information on the man has been released.
